Playing in the new year with a handful of resolutions has been the norm for years. From the promise to abandon unhealthy habits to wanting to achieve certain fitness goals, the beginning of the year saw it all.

The resolutions are excellent in themselves. They give a purpose and the ability to change something about you - forever. Unfortunately, many fail. Because? Lack of determination and failure to respect the commitment made at the beginning of the year!



On the positive side, millions of people have managed to achieve their goals and have remained faithful to their resolutions for years. This success totally boils down to the approach and if the resolutions are based on health, a little knowledge of nutrition goes a long way.

After talking to Truweight chief nutritionist and fitness expert Suhasini Mudraganam and Sobha Rani, respectively, we wrote down 20 important health tips.

The 10 golden health tips

We know we have said it a thousand times, however, we emphasize once again: healthy life can only be achieved by eating nutritiously. To date, many fail to see this and take nutrition lightly. Once healthy eating habits are introduced, your body heals and automatically responds to change in a positive way.

Here are some tips on how to integrate healthy eating into this 2020.

Tip 1

This 2020, establish a healthy relationship with water. Start the day with water instead of a caffeinated drink such as coffee / tea.

If possible, add the lemon. The night is the time when our body recovers and metabolic by-products are released during this process. Drinking water in the morning helps in the elimination of these toxins.

Drinking water is essential for health.

In addition, water helps prevent the acidity caused by caffeine. You don't have to drink a liter of water. Start by drinking a glass or two. So gradually increase it.

Tip 2

Drink enough water. Many believe that they are drinking an adequate amount of water, but to be honest they are not. Consume water based on your body mass index. An average person should drink at least 2 to 2.5 liters of water per day.

Tip 3

Start the day with walnuts after drinking water. Walnuts are loaded with essential micronutrients and good fats. It is even better if you eat soaked nuts overnight. Publish this you can have a coffee / tea. This reduces the chances of developing acidity.

Tip 4

Make sure to include protein consciously in all main meals. Protein is very important for healthy muscles. Some of the best sources of protein are eggs, lentils, legumes, beans, lean meats like chicken, fish etc.

Try eating more whole grains. To begin with, eat millet once a week and slowly increase your intake. And most importantly, don't eat just one type of millet. There are many whole varieties out there and they try to incorporate them all into your diet.

Interestingly, each grain has different nutrient compositions. Each one is rich in calcium, iron, phytochemicals, antioxidants, etc. Eat them all to fully enjoy them.

In the same way, add Ragi or other millet flour to you normal wheat flour to give it an integral touch. Similarly, replace plain or integral Rava with Jowar Rava or other millet Rava.

Tip 6

Add more color and variety to your plate.

People tend to eat the same meal day after day. This way, you're missing out on some essential nutrients offered by other foods.

For example, many southern Indian families mainly cook Toor Dal only. While eating Toor Dal is good, other varieties of lentils should be eaten regularly.

Tip 7

Fruits are an important part of a well balanced diet. To begin with, eat at least one fruit a day. And always remember to choose seasonal fruit and local products rather than imported fruit. Imported fruits are rich in preservatives and chemicals to keep it fresh for longer days due to the transit in question.

For example, you may have seen imported waxed apples. The wax is used to retain the moisture of the apples. Eating this is not healthy at all and can harm your health.

On the other hand, locally produced fruits do not require heavy transportation and, therefore, it is more natural.

The fruits grow according to the season and those fruits adapt better to our body during that particular season. This makes the seasonal fruit better every day. Also, opt for whole fruits instead of fruit juices.

Tip 8

Eat berries. They are loaded with antioxidants and phytochemicals. If possible, stick to native berries and fruits such as Ber (Indian jujube) and cinnamon apple. They benefit the body more than imported berries.

Tip 9

Draw up a food plan and stick to it. Eat on time. Dining late at night is extremely dangerous. Get in the habit of dining before 9pm. Create a eating habit and follow it with discipline.

Tip 10

Maintain a sleep pattern. Our body follows the circadian rhythm. When the sun rises, our body wakes up and when the sun sets, our body also prepares to rest. Disturbing this pattern can harm the body.

Staying awake once in a while is fine, but don't confuse your body by making it a habit. Likewise, they sleep for a minimum of 7 to 8 hours . Deep sleep is very important for mental health.
